Or go straight to your level

A different paper every time, drawn afresh from the pool.

Four levels

A1, A2, B1 and B2, each in its own format and to its own clock.

Marked in minutes

Reading and listening as you go. Your writing read and your speaking heard the moment you finish.

Never the same paper

Every block is drawn afresh from a pool of variants, so there is nothing to learn by heart.

18 branches

Medcity International Academy teaches German across Kerala and Mangalore. This is the paper our own students sit.

What you sit

A whole paper, not a quiz

Four parts in the order the real exam runs them, with the same timings, the same task types and the same marking scheme.

Reading, listening, Sprachbausteine

Counted as you go, question by question. At the end you see which block you lost the most in, and every wrong answer next to the right one with a reason.

Writing

You write the letter under the clock, in the box, with the guide points beside you. It is marked on content, communication and accuracy, each out of its own maximum.

Speaking

Preparation time, then you record yourself, one part at a time. The recording is listened to, so pronunciation and fluency count, and it is kept for your tutor.

The exam screen: a reading task with the texts on the left, the headings to choose from on the right, the clock running at the top and the question overview down the side.
The exam screen itself. The clock runs, the overview on the right shows what is answered and what is flagged, and under every instruction there is the same thing again in plain German.
The marking

Writing and speaking, marked in minutes

The part nobody else automates, because it is the part that needs reading and listening rather than counting.

The marking of a written letter: three criteria, each with points out of its maximum and a sentence of feedback, and a summary underneath.
Every criterion gets its points and a sentence that names something you actually wrote. This one caught a separated verb that should have been one word.

On the exam’s own criteria

Not a general opinion of your German. The same criteria and the same maxima that stand on the marking sheet for that block, at the level you chose.

Your recording is heard, not transcribed

Pronunciation and fluency are part of the mark, and you get a transcript of what actually came through, which is usually the most useful line on the page.

A tutor beats the machine

Your tutor can read the text, listen to the recording and replace the marks. Once a person has marked your paper, nothing automatic touches it again.

If the marking fails, nothing is lost

Your paper stands, your work is saved, and you can rate yourself against the model answer while your tutor marks it properly.

At the end

The result sheet you would have got

Module by module, against the pass mark and the minimum each part of the exam has to reach on its own. Print it, or hand it to your tutor.

The result sheet: a score ring showing 235 of 300 points, the verdict Bestanden, and a bar for every module with its score against its maximum.
A B1 paper at 235 of 300. The two bars at the bottom are the group minimums: 135 of 225 written and 45 of 75 spoken, both of which have to be cleared as well as the 180 overall.

Sit the same level as often as you like

Every block of every paper is drawn from a pool of variants, so the same level is a different exam each time. Nothing is learned by heart, and a whole class can sit the identical paper when a tutor hands out a code.

  • Texts, tasks and the order of the answers are mixed on every start
  • The listening texts are spoken in German, with the reading time and the number of plays the real exam allows
  • Your tutor can set one paper for the whole class by giving out its code
  • Translation tools are blocked, as they are in the exam room
Who runs it

Built for our own classrooms first

Medcity International Academy teaches German from A1 to B2 across 18 branches in Kerala and Mangalore. This is the mock test our own students sit, put on the open web because it is more useful there than behind a login.

Before you start

The questions people ask

Is this the official telc exam?

No, and it is not a substitute for one. It follows the format, the timing and the marking scheme of the telc exams, and every text, task and listening script in it was written for this programme. It is not issued by, endorsed by or affiliated with telc gGmbH, and the result sheet is not a certificate.

Do I need an account?

Yes, and it takes a minute. It is free. It is what keeps your papers together, lets your tutor see your work, and saves you typing your name every time.

Can I pay without creating an account?

Yes. Put your email address in at checkout and pay by UPI, card or netbanking. The package is unlocked on that address, and when you register afterwards on the same address the tests are already waiting for you.

How many times can I sit it?

As often as you like. Every block is drawn afresh from a pool of variants, so the same level gives you a different paper each time rather than the same one again.

Who marks my writing and my speaking?

The programme does, as soon as you finish: it reads your text and listens to your recording and gives points against the criteria for that block, with a sentence on each. Your tutor can then read, listen and replace those marks, and once they have, nothing automatic changes them again.

What happens to my recording?

It is stored with your paper so your tutor can listen to it, and it is what the marking listens to. It is not published anywhere and it is not used for anything else.

Can I do it on a phone?

Yes. For the speaking part you need a microphone, and the browser will ask for it. Without one you can still sit everything else, and speak the answers aloud for practice.
